They seem to be a little fuzzy around the edges, tbh.

That's due to the white background being removed, I believe. I tried to fix it but I can't select it, it's just a color contrast mess-up, I'm assuming.

Could anyone tell me how to make the background invisible using GIMP? Or would it take ages and be hard to explain.

I used Photoshop CS2, but I guess it didn't turn out too well.

If you care at all, in Photoshop, all you do is copy the background layer, delete the background, and then use the magic wand tool to select the areas you want to delete and just hit the delete key or right-click>delete. Not sure if it's done the same way in Gimp, but that's Photoshop.
