The pictures shown in the 'Image of the Future' newsposts were just a taster of what is to come with our graphical improvements. In this Development Diary, we get to go into more detail, as well as show you some new impressive-looking images.

You'll find information about why we decided to embark on this project and what it involves, including shadows, textures and fogging.

So far, I am actually looking forward to this update. What really makes me want to play on this new detail mode is the fog feature, where the scenery just doesn't pop up from the pitch-black abyss. The textures look amazing and I'm wondering what they look like in the areas I play in the most. Can't wait!

These textures have unbelieveable quality for being so compact. Layering textures and blending them into each other is also another brilliant move by Jagex. I'm holding back my 99 fming just for this upate. High resolution fming party! tongue.gif

Why wouldn't it be one? Graphics updates can't exactly be abused and from the previews they gave us of the update, I don't see how it would turn out bad. It certainly looks better than the current High Detail graphics. :|

I just hope they figure out how to make it not be a resource hog (which Java already is).

The only possible way I can see it being bad is that it takes up too muc resources as you stated.

True, but even then, there's a way around it...up-to-date computers. tongue.gif

When I said I hope they figure out a way to lighten up on the resources, I meant for older and slower computers so those players that don't have that good of systems can enjoy the update as well. Comparing High Detail to the previews of this update is like comparing the Empire State Building to a one-story house. :|

Nobody wants to play on the one-story house!

Yes, my computer is fine (I don't even play anymore), but I was saying it'd be bad if not everyone can use it.

Yeah, me too. I probably said it in a complicated, incomprehensible way, though. tongue.gif
