Most of us are helplessly addicted, but for those of us who aren't, why do you keep playing? It is the community, the updates? The fact you can never beat the game? (I beg to differ..)

I think the two real reasons why I still play is the community and my friends. Everyone I know looks up to me because I know alot, and there is so much to do.

The never ending supply of idiots to make fun off.

The ambition of getting 99 in a skill, just so I can laugh at the 10 year olds in my town

I play to help people out and talk with some friends. I mostly stay on because my friends need help with stuff so I help them, wether it's for a donation or for talking to, I'm always there

I'm on and off constantly. I really don't enjoy playing the game anymore but when i'm bored i'll come on merely to talk to friends and make fun of idiots that only have one comeback, "noob"

I love to set goals and achieve them. I also started in Feb 2002 and even know most of the community is very immature I don't mind the gameplay that much... Even if it is mostly mindless clicking. :S

Just the satisfaction of getting levels mainly. It really feels good to me.

Mostly chatting with friends, which I do while I skill and what not, so it helps. Without chatting alot of us would get bored over time from just clicking.

And I have some close friends that I love to play rs with, so all the better.

it's an unique game, the way it works, the way it is playable by anyone pretty muc hanywhere on virtually any platform or computer spec. makes it marvelouse

I don't play! If I did, it would be to skill.

I play because I keep setting myself goals, which unfinished, annoys me so to put the annoyance to the side I have to work towards achieving the goal.

To be honest, I don't even know why I play this game. There's this urge to get a high xp-number of some kind that's driving me.
But why... hell, idk

mostly frineds and addiction cause i always wanna get better then my frineds because im lower then most of them and then i always wanna get better and i kno alot of nice people to talk to on rs iv played off and on but it always gets me coming back if i had no frineds i wouldnt play

I play because of updates, keeping in touch of friends who I don't know in real life (Clan Members), and just pushing towards goals that I set myself.

My friends was what kept me playing RuneScape back when I played it. Unfortuneately the majority stopped playing and over times things just got rather boring until I eventually quit and followed a few over to WoW.

I play because of friends as well and watching my skill total go up lol

Boredom and the fact that I'm addicted. Friends help alot (-.- and they wont let me quit) every time i try and quit my friends get mad at me and tell me not to or they will De-friend me -.-) kind of funny.. i want to quit but I'm just so "Addicted" i have an addictive personality + runescape = Omg?

The truth is I don't play RuneScape anymore due to other things I do outside of it (life).

What kept me playing was the fact that my friends played and the will to become very good at it. Attain a high combat level, high-level stats, and such. I guess you could say I was addicted up to a point, but past that point, it was probably boredom and my friends that kept me on it.

I'm boring, I know.

I play because I have nothing better to do with my life.

I play Runescape because it relaxes me after a hard day in real life.

Ok, it is addictive but I like it because it's a very relaxing thing to do after a stressful day. For example, I like to go on forums and do the same thing too.

I would say friends, making fun of the nubs a little () and just relaxing while having the normal no-lifer typed day.
