Full Version: RS2 beta

So, before Jagex officially launched RS2, they gave us a beta version. In it you could train and so on, but those levels gained wouldn't end up to the "final" RS2. Same was with items. That game was pretty different to our current RS2 and also had few interesting bugs. Here's some picture materials.

The combat system was a bit different. Lovely purple hits there <3

As the items and levels there were only temporary. People were just giving away phats and so on. Here's a legendary merchant Duke Freedom pulling a cracker on some random hippie. Notice the old phats!

In this picture the damage is already shown red, but mods still don't have their fancy crowns.

There was a little bug which let you dupe items really easily. Because this was a beta and the items would be removed, no1 got banned for this and *none* of those duped items are now in game. However it was pretty fun as many people got phats, dragon items and so on.

Again the old combat system. Also notice the weird font in chat.

An army of kittens. Little bug allowed you to have multiple cats and armies like this weren't impossible.

Masks could look now like this...

And phats like this...

At first they were planning to have multiple specials on all weapons. In the end only dragons and dark items got specials and only 1 different spec per items.

I am definately going to marry a gnome cheerleader <3

Hehe, beta was fun. I duped my mask set a crap load of times then went pking with them.

Speaking of pking... Mage was really stupid on the beta.... The distance that you could hit someone from was incredible.. You could hit someone that wasn't even on the mini-map. (eg. You attack someone, they run away, you keep shooting, even after they are far enough away so they are no longer on the mini-map.)

I pk'd several mask sets, lol.

I remember the cat bug too. I'm sure I have pics of it somewhere on my computer or backed up on CD. Maybe I'll look for it later.

I remember when the beta first came out you didn't have any items at all. (Couldn't transfer from RS -> RS2 BETA yet) so everyone was mining/smithing again. Like the game was fresh but everyone already had skills. It was a lot of fun.

Ah good times.
