Greetings Fellow Runescapers!


This is a place to get together and chat about your personal "duh" moments in Runescape. This is NOT about when you were hacked or scammed, trusted the wrong people, or when you ate your Easter egg after buying it.

This is about things that you did without knowing any better...or stupid noob mistakes!




I will give some of my own examples. These are incredibly painful to think about...but I shall do it.



-I have been playing Runescape for over two years. Just a few months ago, I discovered what it meant to 'insert' an item into your bank.
I sort of used to remove EVERYTHING in my bank and re-organise it to make sure all of my items were grouped together. omg i spent an hour every bank clearance day..doing this.


-It took about a year before I understood how different armour gives different bonuses. Usually, I just put on the more expensive gear and went for training. I assumed it was better. Now I understand how to tell the difference between all of the stuff.




k guys your turn to make fun of yourself too. Anyone?

I've been 'playing' since god knows when 5+ years, only just realised that Control + Click makes you run.

i've been playing around 6 years

I fell for the Alt+F4 thing ONCE when I was a really new player. XD

You know instead of making the items switch place you simply insert the item where you want it to be.

When I had trained for several weeks and finally reached 40 defence my rl friend gave me full rune with chain. I felt invincible so i went to edge to pk with my mighty 45 strength or w/e it was So i started fighting this ranger who ate at really low hp so i did aswell. Then suddenly he pulled a rune 2h and hit 16 or so on me. I was devastated and decided not to tell my friend and make the cash back by mining or whatever i did

@Steve&Rexy, you're meant to post some noob things you have done before... Not say how long you've been playing for.....



Anyway... When I first started, I walked around RS shouting "Liam, are you there?!?" Thinking that everyone could hear me, no matter where I was. Liam being the person that told me about the game.

I also remember my first ever death. =/
I died to a giant rat, behind the jail in port sarim I think....

Hehe, that reminds me.. (Not sure how but it does anyway...)

When I started I didn't know to much about armour differences either. I did Goblin Diplomacy and figured that addy armour was just armour with green dye on it.

I tried to dye my armour. With no success obviously, so I went around asking people how to dye your armour and change the color of your armour...

I have been playing 5+ years and just completed sheep herder woot

omg guys this is awesome!!!!!!! I love hearing about nooby things...makes me snort my coffee.



Andrew...you have some really funny stories to tell. Ya it took ages for me to figure out the chat system too!



oh..and on the subject of questing...I am a superquestingfrooblet. There are some really really easy ones everyone else finished long long ago. Ya well.. Im just too lazy to collect items.

well when i was low level it use to take me ages to find the wildy and i use to ask people in lummy to take me while i was standin by varrock level 1 and saw somone fightin a black knight.. i started saying "i bet you one of u will run away" i thought they were both plays LLL =\

and i first died to a swarm at chickens but someone ran to lummy and gave my stuff back L

I've been playing for a year or two, on and off, and I just realized that the game isn't all that great just really addicting to people that have nothing better to do

i played since november 2004 and have 742 total

I've been playing like 4 years and STILL log on trying to use W.A.S.D keys to move

I did after taking a break from RS and playing WoW for a year and a half. :$

Along with many other things....

What the fruit does that mean?

w = up key
a = left key
s = down key
d = right key

Its the keys to move in some games.

I didn't know about combat level when I first started and therefore I thought, as a level 3, I could kill Guards. Not smart.

I thought it'd be a really good idea to solo KQ with Guthans, it wasn't

Never played any real games before, Butters? lol

Diablo 2 is a real game., runs on bitmap images, and it's only clicking.

I just found out where you buy a d skimm i have been using whip this whole time

Don't you have to buy d scim from players? There's an actual place to buy it? lol ffs this thread is just pointing out all the stuff that I didn't know and u all found out long ago.




and andrew......I still don't understand the WASD or whatever..the key thing. What W key? huh? I press W and it does nothing. HELP ME

my stupidest rs moment has got to be that one time, on the second day that this account existed on rs, (i had multiple other accounts, and would make another as soon as the one i was playing on died. but then i learned about "mining and smithing st00f") some guy gave me an addy baxe, and i sold it for 26k (the good old days :/ ). i went to the varrock sewers because i heard there were gp spawns in there and other spawns. i ran to where the ghosts were, picking up st00f. a zombie started to own me so i climbed the ladder and got mauled by a bear, losing the 28k that i didnt bank (i made 2k by picking up st00f).

ever since, i bank pretty much everything i dont need

I told a mod that when he did his fletching emote he looked like he was strip dancing, got muted for 5 days...

I would have appealed that one dear...there is nothing bad about that lol. Holy fudge that mod was mean.

omg are u serious about the insert thing!!! wow that makes mee maaaaddd lol i spend like forever trying to organize my bank and ur saying i can just insert it *twitches*.... *alot* well besides that when i was doing watchtower quest i thought i had to kill a shaman... and that didnt work out well so id keep going back to try to kill him and stuff and i lost alot of stuff lol then i asked my frined for help and he laughed at me lol



*edit* o and butters w a s d keys are used to move in a ton of games and me and alot of people will hop on rs trying to move like that when you have to click its just a bad habit form other games lol

A few weeks ago, I played Runescape for 6 hours straight. When I saw a level 56 selling Arena Book 50k, I thought he must not know what it is, and decided to cash in on it. Only once the trade was completed did I realise my newb mistake. Oh well, it was only 50k, so I'm not gonna quit over it

1. When I completed Elemental shield I, I had been a member for over a year. How sad is that? When I 1st started it, I never could do it.

2. I once went to the dark wizards south of varrock when I was f2p with 3k gp on me. I got owned by those guys and lost like everything on me. Loosing that money nearly killed me, lol.

ive been playing for 4 years and have 100 total

W would be up, not on RS though because it makes you type but on other games. Ive tried using WASD on other games but cant get the hang of it :$

5 years here or so , i play other games such as diablo 2, cs 1.6 and afew others i try use the w,a,s,d keys aswell lol

I offered 1300 gp for a rune pick because I thought they were rare. And that 1300 gp was a lot.

I've never bought or had a piece of Barrows item (let a lone been to Barrows) in my life.
And I've never completed a clue...

A long time ago I died in the Chasm Mine with a rune pick and 20k cash (nonmembers - heckuvalot) while I was upstairs for a bit and died to a drunken dwarf...

I become into the habit of going to Piscatoris fishing colony so much, that after I got 99 fishing, I wanted to goto rouges den to cook, I used the fairy rings and went to piscatoris. I also always continued to say !fish on IRC instead of !cook when I wanted to see how my prgress was going.

I'm level 106 and Haven't done Monkey Madness or Desert Treasure.

I only done Legends at level 104. (after around 5 months of membership) :$

I'm another victim of the Al-Kharid toll gate. Evil man killed me as I tried to pay the toll fee to get back to Lumbridge, so I did in the end, end up in Lumbridge.

i fell for the timming armour scam

Once was kqing and somehow i got a drop... it was a kq head. i picked it up. looked at its options and coz i found that it didn't have an interesting option it was useless... so i dropped it again

Ouch...I wish I could get a KQ head.

I was stupid when I first started (years and years ago)...I was walking towards Varrock as a little level three noob back in Classic when I was twelve...The dark wizards attacked me and I begged for them not to kill me.
