In this post I'll introduce you ten legends of RS in smithing and mining category. They aren't in any real order, the one who isn't last isn't any worse than the one who is at the top. In future I'm planning to do the same from at least combat skills.

Back in 2001 and 2002, mining and smithing were considered to be the real skills for those who wanted to be something. Even many top pkers did even a bit of them and they were arguerably the best way to get some serious money. Before certs and item banks, they were truely something really unique: they required more hard work than any other skill has ever done.

Bluerose13x:
The first one ever to get 99 smithing and 2 99 skills. She was one of the few founders of STEEL Corporation Inc along with people like Dmonik. She merchanted some addy squares and later kites, but he didn't go for real runite merchanting. Her friends got their items and she made her raw materials buy trading adamantite things, low lvl runite things or later by doing free adamantite smithing. At low 80s (addy kites) a players called Twy and M Oldfield were after her, but in the end she survived as a winner. To get some kind of a picture how dominating she was, you can look at old hiscore pictures: when she had 99 smith, Krest was 2nd with 90, Gormis 3rd with 89 and Iampenguin 4th with 94.

Waltteri:
One truely lunatic person. Unlike the other miners, he wasn't satisfied with only 85 and getting ultimate rich with rune ores. He had a lot bigger plans. He went for a mad mining training and was 2nd after Ezarc to hit 90 mining. In the end he was 2nd ever to get 99 mining, just after Joe Bill64. For me, Waltteri was a good friend and a hero, one of the few reasons why I ended up going for over 85 mining and the pretty early days of RuneScape. Here's an old bank picture of his, not too rich but definately way over an average dude back in then.

Joe Bill64
He came pretty much out of nowhere and ended up being the first one ever to get 99 mining. After 99 mining he trained some melee skills, but that was pretty much it. He's not one of those players who we'd expect to be talking about even years after he quit. I never had any problems with him, but still he was a bit mysterious person. He just came out of nowhere, disappeared and no1 really seems to know him. However he's a picture I took when I last time met him. Yea he still remembered me tongue.gif

Twy:
Another mysterious player. He worked hard and didn't come out of nowhere, still I don't recall anyone ever being his real friend. After Bluerose got her smithing high enough to produce certain adamtite shields, he just quit and at least I haven't heard a single thing about him after that. Unlike Bluerose or many other smithers before or after him, he didn't buy almost any raw materials. He only lived with his pickaxe. If he had bought materials or just powermined, he could have been anything. Now he ended up losing the competition and then disappeared.

Gormis&Krest:
For these players, I want to put them together for few reasons: their careers shared so many similarities. After Bluerose they were the next ones to hit 99 smithing, but unlike her, they also sold some items. This opened the markets for more 2handers and kiteshields, but not as badly as Musashi22 and some other smithers did after them. They got their 99s within really short time and I at least I can't say which one got his first.

However, their ending wasn't too glorious. Krest gave his character away to his real life friend as he had to be away for a certain amount of time. Theoretically it wasn't sharing as 2 players weren't playing same time and Jagex wasn't too strict with rules. He ended up getting his smithing level lowered but still got his account. Probably first and last time in the history of RS this kind of a punishmend was used. However he quite because of that. Gormis got permanently banned for giving his character to a 2nd party or character sharing. From different sources I've heard 2 different stories: one says he gave his character away and another says he just moved a lot because of his work and that made his ip history look suspicious. It's hard to say which story is true, but the fact is that Gormis won't be here to smith your rune 2handers anymore.

Dmonik:
One founders of STEEL CORPORATION inc and the first one ever to smith mithril. Was pretty close to Bluerose, but then let her first pass him and then he dropped out of the picture. After that he still played quitea big role at Tip.IT. There's not much to write about him, but he definately should be remembered. Not because he would have shaken the world of RS like Bluerose or later Musashi, not because he would have dominated the hiscores for years or not for being in a scandal like Krest&Gormis. However he created something that we can still see and was the pioneer in two different skills.

M Oldfield:
Unlike the others so far, this person was also more into allround skilling. He didn't first take 99 smithing and then get rich out of it like most smithers in the first years. Actually he never even got it. However he smithed and mined before 99,9% of current RS population had even heard of RS, really challenged Bluerose at one point and has affected alot in the RS community. If he hadn't retired, he could have been the first Finn before Thehate to get 99 in all skills or he could now write stories here as he shares a common interest with me: RS History.

Musashi22:
Many people still tend to name Musa as being the legendariest person in whole game. In my eyes he isn't even the biggest legend at the fields of smithing, but he probably has affected to RS economy more than any other legit player. Unlike other 99 smithers, he didn't get dirty rich by selling one or two items every now and then: he mass producted runite items and made 2handers and kites fall faster and more than anyone could believe. Within few months, he managed to turn status items into something that anyone could get. Of course this hurt me quite a lot as I had those items and had invested a lot on them. Anyways it's a certaing thing that if he hadn't donethe mass producting, someone else after him would have.

Whitemagem:
Another one with Musashi to mass produce runite items and boost smithing that way. Also came pretty much out of nowhere (wasn't that old smither, not in top 30 when Bluerose got 99 smith) to shake the ground. Whitemagem and Musashi were the first ones ever to get over 20 million smithing xp. Unlike many other players listed here, Whitemagem hasn't gone anywhere: Look who is currently ranked 51th in overall.

S H A R K:
Not just someone with a cool username: this person was the first one ever to mine an adamantite ore like you could have read from my other topic. Also was in top 10 mining with a level of 84 while only Ezarc had 90 mining. At the moment has 94 mining and rank 1001. What I know of, he quit before RS2 came and that's one reason why too many has forgotten him.

It was easy to place some names, but for some spots it was really hard to decide who is worth a little story and who not. It wouldn't have been a mistake to mention Zezima, X Ace X, Viikate, Pugxsi, Lotta Might, Cedog, Ezarc, Arris, Zweihander, Iampenguin, Euklid, Glove, Spare Parts or many others here.

Haven't used img tags for one reason: got error saying "Sorry, dynamic pages in the [IMG] tags are not allowed" and couldn't locate the error so was easier to leave the img tags away.

If some of you wonder what good has STEEL CORPORATION inc done, here's a slogan from TIP.IT:

Wow talk about forgotten legends.
Dravenstormn
couple of things to add here to this. Bluerose did sell items to keep ahead of Krest , Gormis , and others. I myself bought 2 rune kites ( and later ) 2 rune 2hs from her all 4 items were at the cost of 2k coal each.

Gormis was a very good friend of mine. So to confirm part of what you said about his banning. He played runescape from a laptop while he traveled for work. His wife who also played ( Aleshea ) was a good friend of mine as well. With both playing runescape it was a good way for them to keep in contact while he was away on business. With the constant change of ip addresses back then during the witchhunts of name sharers he was one who got hit with the ban stick.
Aleshea quit shortly after Gormis was banned , and gave me all the ores and bars she had on her account she used to run Gormis to lvl. Both then started playing Helbreath never to be heard from again.
Leet Craft
Very nice. Haven't heard of a lot of those names before.
