I've been pondering the answer to this question for quite some time and I was wondering if there are any rsc geezers that could answer it for me. How did he get 99 smithing as his first 99? He's stated that he used steel bars and had friends smelt them for him but did he make platebodies?... that would be pretty costly as a first 99. If he mined them, did he just not use a sleeping bag? But he says he doesn't like mining and powermined in rsc. As you can see it's confusing me greatly. If he bought all of the ores, how did he support it moneywise? I have been searching everywhere for this answer for months and have recently been trying to contact him. Thanks.

The only one who can properly answer to this would be Zezima himself, but lets start here...

He was relatively high lvl smither at the early days of RS. For example when Bluerose13x had hit 99 smith and the 2nd best (Krest) was "only" 90 smith, Zezima was being 21st with 75 smithing. Back in those days you could make some cash out of even adamtite shields and rune hatchets (85+stout) were surprisingly expensive. That's one way for money. Of course he mined a lot of ores too by himself, but his mainway for 99 mining was powermining. I'm not entirely sure when did he get 99 mining, but I assume it was before or slightly after sleeping bags. Steel was the main way as the supply of mithril wasn't too great and adamantite bars couldn't be traded in certs. Also hiring smelters wasn't anything that rare. Steel plates were an obvious things to do: the reason for doing steel was stated above and bars were the fastest thing to do and the least expensive steel item after high alching.

Ah, I see. I guess I didn't know when sleeping bags were introduced. He has stated in a question "How did you make your money?" that he got it by killing blue drags and whips from slayer, that's all he said. I do not know if he was including money that he made and then lost due to using it for skilling immediately.

I do believe Zezima didn't care about the cost of money back there. I remember him telling me he completely crashed the market on rune, brining it down to something like it is today. That's if I remember correctly.

So... he made money from making rune items then?

The real crash came from Musashi and few other smithers. Of course Zezima had his fingers at it too, but he wasn't the main "crasher" of rune prices.



Blue dragons and slayer items were one source for him in RS2, but definately not the way he funded his smithing: he got 99 back in RSC.
