MechScape - The, soon to be, new online MMORPG created by Jagex

There's no point in repeating information, so the first thing you should do is read this page. tongue.gif

It is pretty obvious that Jagex is planning to release a new game titled MechScape and has been planning since 2003 when they bought the first domain. What is your opinion? Are you going to quit RuneScape and start over with MechScape, are you going to play both, or will you just ignore the new game? The thread on the Official RuneScape Forums (quick find code 23-24-359-53196268) suggests that the game may take place in more modern times compared with runescape with guns, buses, and planes. Other sources suggest that it will take place in space.

I think it will be an interesting change. What would you be able to do in this space game? Will there be skills like in RuneScape? I will definetaly not be quitting RuneScape for MechScape, but I might play both if MechScape proves interesting. biggrin.gif

What do you think?

What I've decided is to play MechScape as soon as it comes out and see if I like it then decide between RuneScape and MechScape. It could also be a backup for when RuneScape is not the money maker it is now. Either way, hopefully Jagex prevents the issues that effect RuneScape now in MechScape.

It'll be interesting, that's for certain. Neat that they're actually attempting to expand on their gaming. I doubt it's going to be a game you can play in a normal web browser though

This is gonna be interesting. I doubt that they would even bother with MechScape because RuneScape is going pretty well.

The domain mechscape.com is reserved by Jagex though...

Yes, and so are a bunch of other domains that look like they can be used for help or real life trading. I'm pretty sure it's going to be a browser-based game, but I'm wondering also if they will not have a F2P option.

They will probably start with a F2P system, just like they did with RS. I can't find the logic in just a P2P version.

They have a million RuneScape members who are people who could potentially subscribe if it was pure P2P. However, there probably will be some F2P too.
Leet Craft
It will most likely model the way they have it for RuneScape or they will issue like 14 day trials or something.
Durrette
Runescape.

Runescape.

There is not way Merchscape is RuneScape. There mainly opposites in a sense. Mechscape is futuristic (future) while RuneScape is medieval (past).

I'm pretty sure he was saying what he voted for in the poll, Leet Craft.

I'll try it when it comes out.

I can't see a sci-fi game, with graphics like this being Java-based. I think it will be a game that needs to be downloaded.

Also, JAGeX have released their new website, http://www.funorb.com/. Quotation from FunOrb.com:
